"These works are a series of paintings of blue skies based on photographs taken by the artist. Below the image, discretely- almost in the manner of a footnote- the artist quotes a news headline from the day the picture was taken. What is shocking about these paintings is that the horrific events cited are in such a stark contrast to the exquisiteness of the sky, with its brightly glowing white and fluffy clouds. The idea that inspired Newsclouds is that even the most tragic things happen unnoticed, ignored or dismissed by most people"
