More about this artwork:
"Flask is both a sort of mutant and a sign of mutation. The vase is cast in animal blood, the flower ‘Nepenthes’ is a carnivorous plant, its pods are external stomachs, signs of transformation, where the atoms of a fly are taken apart and reconfigured to form food for the plant. Flask is about resurrection – the transformation from life to death, then back to life again. A difficult passage for a being, effortless for atoms and molecules, the difference between life and consciousness." - Marc Quinn, Recent Sculptures Catalogue, Groninger Museum, 2006
